Housewares Design Awards 2017 Finalists

The finalists are in for the 2017 Housewares Design Awards.

Five product finalists in each of 12 core awards categories were selected from nearly 300 entries representing Cookware & Bakeware; Countertop Cooking & Beverage Appliances; Countertop Food Prep Appliances; Countertop Kitchenware; Cutlery & Cutting Tools; Floor Care & Cleaning Appliances; Gadgets & Kitchen Tools; Home Environment Appliances; Home Organization, Laundry Care & Non-Electric Cleaning; Home & Outdoor Décor; Personal, Health & Garment Care; and Tableware, Serveware & Beverageware.

“Best in Category” winners for each of the 12 awards categories will be announced during a special Housewares Design Awards presentation ceremony, January 24, 2017, 4-6 p.m., during the Winter Las Vegas Market at World Market Center Las Vegas. A trio of “Best of the Best” winners— Gold, Silver and Bronze awards— will be selected from the 12 “Best in Category” honorees.

The 2017 Housewares Design Awards are presented by HomeWorld Business, hosted by Las Vegas Market and sponsored by Whitford Corporation. Each of the finalist designs will be on display during the 2017 Winter Las Vegas Market on C11 (the 11th floor of showroom building C).

The awards ceremony also will also feature the presentation of the inaugural “Design Influencer of the Year” award to Mo Mullen, director of business development for West Elm Local.

An independent panel of design and merchandising experts convened in mid-November to judge the entries and select finalists, “Best in Category and “Best of the Best” winners. Members of the selection committee assembled were excused from judging submissions for which they may have had any affiliation.

Housewares Design Awards finalists were chosen based on design believed to differentiate a product with unique appearance and/or function. The judges considered appropriate aesthetics, innovative materials and technology, user benefits (i.e., performance, comfort, ease of use, safety) and marketability. Products judged had to have been made available to consumers for the first time between October 1, 2015, and September 30, 2016. No prototypes were accepted.

Details on the 2017 Housewares Design Awards are available at www.housewaresdesignawards.com. Tickets for the January 24 awards ceremony— 4 to 6 p.m. in the Las Vegas Market’s WorldView Ballroom on B16— are $50 each available for purchase here.
